McPoet stores its rules and word lists on disk. To run McPoet you need to have a folder named 'Rules' and one named 'WordLists' (each with appropriate contents) in the same folder as McPoet. The rules and macros which come with McPoet are dependent on the word lists which also come with it, so don't trash files from either folder until you understand what you are doing.
The file 'Installed Word Types' should also remain in the same folder as McPoet. The application uses this file to document the contents of word files which are currently installed. You may add your own documentation to this text file if you add new word lists to McPoet.
McPoet 5.0 includes powerful new features that allow the rules used by McPoet to generate output to call other rules in a systematic way. This feature is demonstrated in two sample rule files which comes with McPoet. Unlike the other two rules files which come with McPoet (which contain a random assortment of rules of many different kinds) these two files are intended to function as a unit. They have therefore been stored separately, in a folder entitled 'New Functions Examples' folder. To try out McPoet's new functions, read the instructions file in that folder.
Full documentation is contained within the application.
